Estonian Archives treasure
This 1961 book pictures Linda, Kalevipoeg's
mother, weeping. Her tears pooled to form
Lake Ülemiste (now near Tallinn International
airport). This is one of many interpretations
of the national epic Kalevipoeg, first published
in 1839.
The Estonian Archives in Sydney is a treasure
house of Estonian culture and stories of
migration. It is one of many cultural groups
set up to ensure the survival of Estonian
culture in Australia.
