Tallinn, capital of Estonia
The Estonian Society in Sydney commissioned
this painting in the 1980s. The artist, Gunnar
Neeme, arrived in Australia in 1949. He was a
writer as well as a painter, illustrator and
graphic designer. He designed book covers for
many Estonian publications.
Tallinn is a heritage-listed medieval city and
the peaked towers featured here were built
between the 13th and 16th centuries.
