Apron woven 1960s, Trebenista, Ohrid

Spasija made this child's apron in the 1960s before she migrated to Australia. In 1987 she gave it to her granddaughter, then aged 6, to wear to a wedding. The apron is a traditional design from Vevcani and other towns and villages in the mountains north west of Struga.
Height: 41.5 cm, width: 44.5 cm, loom width: 19 cm; Cotton warp, cotton and woollen weft.
