Apron woven 1954, Meseista, Ohrid
Lent by Ivanka Radiceska
Ivanka made this apron for her trousseau. The design of pink and white stripes is typical of those worn by young women in the village of Meseista in the 1950s and '60s. Like many aprons from this region, the selvedges are left unhemmed and the ties sewn into the folded corners of the fabric.
Height: 58.5 cm, width: 64 cm, loom width: 30.5 cm; Cotton warp, cotton and woollen weft.
